Autumn week in the Lake District

I'm off to the Lakes tomorrow for another proverbial pheast of phood and fotography.
I will no doubt be spending a couple of days on my hands and knees photographing rusty old mining equipment. Funny what some people go to the Lake District to do!
I will be posting a gallery of my shots when I get back.

Search from Mica-Images web pages

I thought it would be a good idea to add a search feature to my site, so here goes. Each page now has a Google search and you can search just in this site by checking the box.

New gallery of images from Sicily

I have finally got round to uploading a new gallery of images from my recent holiday in Sicily. You can see them in gallery 16.
I also thought it might be a good idea to bring back all of the images that were used on the home page. So I have created a slideshow to display them randomly.

Moo-ving event in Edinburgh

I have uploaded a new gallery with some images from the Edinburgh Cow Parade 2006.

A collection of around 100 cow statues are on display at numerous sites across the city until 23rd July. These have been artistically decorated by various artists and each one has a sponsor. At the end of the exhibition, many of the cows will be herded up to the Meadows Park and sold at auction with 75% of the proceeds going to charity. Visit gallery 15 to view my images.

Audio Visuals are here!

I have been experimenting with ProShow Gold AV software for some time now and thought it was about time that I put some of my work up on my website.
Before digital, I was a slide worker and enjoyed seeing images projected on a screen. Since turning digital, I have been bitten by the digital AV bug and find that this is the ideal way to present some of my photography.
My new AV shows can be accessed from the galleries section of my website.

CIW Associate Success

I recently passed my CIW exam in Internet Business foundations, Network Technology and Site development.

The CIW Foundations exam validates the basic hands-on skills and knowledge that a professional is expected to understand and use. Foundational skills include basic knowledge of Internet technologies, network infrastructure, Web authoring using XHTML, and job skills such as project management.

Check out the CIW website for details of the course syllabus.

Visit to Fa'side Castle near Tranent

Edinburgh Photographic Society's DeLOS Group had a day out at Fa'side Castle on Monday 17th April.
The main purpose of the event was to photograph a group of fencing enthusiasts who were holding a training and competition day using double-handed broad swords.
The castle's owners also very kindly gave us permission to wander through their home and take photographs where we wished.
I have added a gallery to my website with a selection of my images from the day. Go over to Gallery 13 to view them.

Website updated

I have just completed an update to my site to include more images per gallery and also to add three new galleries.
I have also changed the way that I display my images. I am using a Javascript called lightbox by Lokesh Dhakar which dims the screen and displays the image in the centre. It is really neat and helps to focus attention on the image without the distraction of other screen elements.

Disappearing images

I added the W3C logo to my pages to verify that my code validated.

One day I noticed that the logos were not displaying. All other images on the pages were OK and my browser setting were OK.

On further investigation, when I viewed the source code using Firefox, the code for the logo was missing (not displayed). I checked the files on my server and they were of course OK.

Any thoughts on this phenomenon would be most appreciated.

New website published

I have just completed a redesign of my website using full CSS and XHTML design techniques.
The overall appearance is similar but the design code has been tidied up significantly and I have added a few extra features such as an order form and additional galleries.
